Graduation

A Seasonal reflection

As we prepare to say goodbye to friends, to sons and daughters, and to the youth that we have ministered to throughout the years, we obviously do so with a mixture of both pride and sadness, excitement and apprehension. I'm not sure we're ever really ready to let go, even though we know we must, even though we know the next step along the journey may be even more exciting than the last.

But, we do let go and we do move forward, knowing that we do not go alone. Like Abraham, we can step out in faith, confident that God goes with us - and with the young people in our churches who will be moving on to the next chapters of their lives. Yes, we know that there will be trails, and times of wandering in the wilderness, but we also know that throughout the journey, God will remain faithful. And if we continue to listen to God's call, our going out will result in blessing. We know, because God promised it.
