COME TOGETHER: Intimately Linked in this Harvest Work

REUNAMONOS: Entrelazádos Intimamente en esta Cosecha

Matthew 10:40-42

Are you CURRENTLY in high school, or do you know someone who is currently in high school?  If so, please read on...

E.Y.E. (or the Episcopal Youth Event) is the second largest gathering in The Episcopal Church, and it only happens every 3 years.  Set aside June 20-30, 2011 for an amazing adventure.

1500 youth and adults come together from all around The Episcopal Church to spend a week (or so) on a college campus.  We worship (in a HUGE stadium), discuss (great small groups where you will get to know people from all over), play (outside games, a swimming pool, cards, etc.), and we serve (there's an outreach component added on this year).

Please let me know if you are interested at all, and send me an e-mail (or call, text, etc.) if you have questions (email Gennie Callard or 269-599-5392).  I have attached the flyer and registration form that was sent out in November.

This is an amazing opportunity, and an amazing event - I hope you will be able to attend with Bishop Gepert and I as part of our Diocesan group.  Please do not let the high school students in your congregation miss the chance to go.

What is EYE?  EYE is the second largest event in the Episcopal Church.  It is the single largest youth event in the Episcopal Church, typically attended by some 1500 young people, adult sponsors, bishops, staff, and resource people.  There will be three days of worship, sharing, praying, learning, singing, and leadership training.  This conference calls youth into a greater awareness of and commitment to God’s mission in the world.  These three days will be followed by Three Days of Mission work in urban or rural settings.   THIS IS A WEEK OF PUTTING FAITH INTO ACTION! !

When is EYE?  EYE will be held June 22-26, 2011, at Bethel University in

St .Paul, Minnesota.  Our Diocese will also be staying for the three days of mission, June 27-30.

What are the requirements?  You must be a high school student in the 2010-2011 academic year. To be an adult sponsor you must be over the age of 21.  You must be active in a congregation and willing to follow all the rules.

All youth and adults wishing to attend EYE must fill out an application and apply through the Diocese of Western Michigan. Individual participants will be chosen from these applications.

An orientation will be held.  It will be mandatory attendance.  This date will be set later around schedules.

We will be taking a delegation that reflects ethnic/cultural diversity of our diocese. It will include up to 32 youth.  These persons will include different racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds as well as people with disabilities, and people representing the geographic distribution within our diocese.

Cost:  The cost is being currently worked out, and will be no more than $400 per person. Cost when set will include registration, lodging, meals, bus transportation, t-shirts and incidentals.  All attendees and parishes are expected to pay something towards the cost.  Scholarship assistance is available.  Do not stay away because of the cost!   Final costs will be announced soon!!
