Confirmation, Reception & Reaffirmation Requirements

         

All candidates presented for confirmation, reception, and reaffirmation, must have either attended the retreat in April or complete a written assignment by May 4, 2012.

   

For the written assignment, the candidate must read either the book My Faith, My Life (which was created & is intended more for teenagers preparing for Confirmation) ,or Your Faith, Your Life (intended for adults) but you may like either of them.

In a short essay, please answer the following questions and send them to the Bishop by May 4, 2012.  You may e-mail the responses to rrgsupport@edwm.org, or send them by USPS to Confirmation-EDWM * 535 South Burdick St., Suite 1 * Kalamazoo, MI 49007

  

• Why do you want to be Confirmed, Received & Reaffirmed?

  

• What do the Baptismal promises mean to you & how will you live into them?

  

• Through the laying on of hands by the Bishop, you are being ordained as missionaries to ministry.  What is your current ministry, and how do you hope to live more fully into it?

  

• What does it mean to be sealed and strengthened by the Holy Spirit?

 

• The work of the Holy Spirit is gradual and progressive.  What is the transformation taking place in you?  How do you see yourself growing?

 

• How does your Confirmation, Reception or Reaffirmation affect the life of the worshiping community?

Celebration Information

   

Date:    Saturday, May 19, 2012

   

Time:    11:00am (with a festive reception to follow the approximately two-hour service)

    

Location:  Grace Church, Grand Rapids (click here for their webpage - with directions)

The Report for Confirmation, Reception, and Reaffirmation can now be filled out on-line.  Please fill out one per candidate.  You will need the following information for each candidate

• Full Name (first, middle and last)

• Church and denomination of baptism

• date of baptism

• name of presenter/sponsor

Please make sure that everything is spelled correctly, as it will appear on the certificate the way you type it.

Names are due May 4th.  If changes need to be made after you have hit "submit", please contact Gennie Callard (269) 381-2710
