Things to know about the service for Candidates:

- Please arrive at the church no later than 8:45 a.m. for a rehearsal at 9:00 a.m.
- Please bring a parish banner with you, including stand (if you do not have a parish banner, this would be a great opportunity to create one).
- There will be refreshments after the service at the church (the service will be approximately 2 hours long).

What needs to be done & when?

Confirmation, Reception & Reaffirmation Check-list (for candidates )
- Completed a preparation program
- Attended the Diocesan Confirmation Retreat
or
- Read the assigned book & written a report & sent report to Bishop’s office
- Sent out invitations to friends, family & Godparents
- Make sure that your clergy have sent in the form to register you (the forms are due May 1)
Confirmation, Reception & Reaffirmation Check-list (for congregations)
- Ensured all prospective candidates completed a preparation program that met with the Diocesan policies
- Ensured all candidates, mentors & clergy attend the Confirmation retreat
or
- Read the assigned book & written a report & sent report to Bishop’s office
- Collect full names of candidates, along with the date & location of their baptism
- Fill out the official “Diocese of Western Michigan Report of Confirmation, Reception, and Reaffirmation ” form and send names of candidates to the Bishop’s office (by May 1)
- Ordered gifts &/or Books of Common Prayer for Candidates
- Planned Congregational Celebration on Sunday following Diocesan service
Requirements
Please remember that each Candidate presented must have either attended the retreat in March or complete a written assignment.
For the written assignment, the candidate must read either the book My Faith, My Life or Your Faith, Your Life. "My life" was created & is intended more for teenagers going through Confirmation, but you may like either of them. You can find information on the books here:

In a short essay, please answer the following questions and send them to the Bishop by Wednesday, May 12. You may e-mail the answers to rrgsupport@edwm.org, or send them by USPS to Confirmation-EDWM * 535 South Burdick St., Suite 1 * Kalamazoo, MI 49007

What do the Baptismal promises mean to you & how will you live into them?
Through the laying on of hands by the Bishop, you are being ordained as missionaries to ministry. What is your current ministry, and how do you hope to live more fully into it?
What does it mean to be sealed and strengthened by the Holy Spirit?
The work of the Holy Spirit is gradual and progressive. What is the transformation taking place in you? How do you see yourself growing?
How does your Confirmation, Reception or Reaffirmation affect the life of the worshiping community?
