She is a contributing author to Education for Parish Nursing (the curriculum endorsed by the International Parish Nurse Resource Center), is one of five nurses who developed Standards of Practice for Parish Nursing (published by the American Nurses Association in cooperation with Health Ministries Association), contributed to Guidelines for Healing Touch in Churches published by Healing Touch International, and compiled and edited Good is the Flesh: Body, Soul, and Christian Faith (Morehouse Publishing, 2005).  Ordained to the Vocational Diaconate in 1992 and to the Priesthood in 2005, Jean has served as the Director of National Episcopal Health Ministries.  Currently she is Senior Associate Rector of St. Paul’s, Indianapolis.  She has written the booklet An Episcopalian Answers Questions about Health Ministries and Parish Nursing, and the manual Steps to a Health Ministry in Your Episcopal Congregation.  She helped develop and now teaches the health component of CREDO, the clergy wellness program of the Episcopal Church.

Jean is the mother of two adult children, and lives in Indianapolis with her husband, Tom Barnes.  In her spare time, she enjoys gardening and fabric art.

Preacher at the Convention Eucharist:  The Rev. Laurel Dahill

The Rev. Laurel was invited by Bishop Gepert to preach at the convention Eucharist - and preach she did!  When was the last time you heard applause ring out after a sermon in an Episcopal Church?  Laurel serves as rector of St. Andrew's in Big Rapids (click here to view website), where you can hear her preach on most Sundays.
