Day Staff at the Episcopal Youth Camp

Clergy

Being an Episcopal church camp, clergy are an integral part of our week.  We have clergy to come to serve for an entire week - as cabin counselors or spiritual directors.

We have a daily Eucharist at camp.  The young people plan it, do the readings, and pick the music (with adult mentors).  But we do need clergy at camp; and not just to celebrate at the table.  Having parish clergy come to camp for a day (or more) links camp to the parishes.  The young people get to see their priests in shorts & a t-shirt, and the clergy get to see their young people in their own world.  The clergy in our Diocese are incredibly supportive, and we hope that each one of them will be able to join us for a day to visibly support the young people at camp.

We've also recently figured out that many of our campers are "grandchildren" of parishioners.  Their parents often don't go to camp, so they don't.  When the clergy show up, we can introduce them to those "lost sheep", and they may be more anxious to drag their parents to church on Sunday mornings (or get a ride from someone else).

All clergy who wish to serve for a day must fill out a "Day Staff Application."  Click here to go to the downloads page to find the application.

Musicians

Music is an important piece of our camp!

We are looking for people to serve as a camp musician for a day.  We will send you the music we will be using, but you will need to bring your own instrument.

This is a new position at camp.  We've always known how important music is to a person's spiritual journey, but we've just recently realized that the gifts & skills it takes to be a cabin counselor may not be those it takes to be a musician that can lead songs.  So we are looking for people to serve as a camp musician for a day.  We will send you the music we will be using, but you will need to bring your own instrument.  You will need to be background checked and be certified in Safeguarding God's Children, but we do that for everyone who works with children in parishes, too.

Day Helpers

Our Staff are primarily volunteers.  Because of this, we know that some people who wish to serve cannot give up an entire week of paid work.

If you are one of those people & would like to serve, we have opportunities to serve for a day.

We need people to help with registration & check out, but we can always use people during the week.  And if you are someone with a special gifts & talents, this is your personal invitation!  Please come and share!  Last year we had someone teach the senior highers different kinds of dancing (fun!).  If you don't have a special talent, we can use you to count t-shirts or organize the arts & crafts (as if that isn't a special talent!).

All day helpers who wish to serve for a day must fill out a "Day Staff Application."  Click here to go to the downloads page to find the application.
