Bishop Gepert's Confidentiality Statement

Information you tell me about yourself is held in confidence unless I am required by law to report it (e.g. reporting child abuse).  As I work to bring positive change to the diocese, information you tell me about another person, parish, etc. is only helpful if I can share that information.  I may choose to check out the accuracy of the information and to name its source. Information that is presented as confidential about another, which I can’t use to affect change, is not helpful and therefore best kept to oneself.

Bishop Gepert - Bio

Robert R. Gepert was born August 24, 1948 in Pittsburg, PA.

After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Point Park College, he taught high school (outside of Washington DC) for eleven years. A former Roman Catholic, Gepert became an Episcopalian and acted on a call to the priesthood that he had experienced since childhood.

He received a Master of Divinity degree from Virginia Theological Seminary in 1985. Ordained to the priesthood in the Diocese of Washington, he served congregations there and in the Diocese of Bethlehem; later moving to the position of dean of Trinity Cathedral in the Diocese of Easton. His educational training includes five years studying with Dr. Edwin Friedman in family systems theory and its application to congregational life, and he has served as a “systems coach” for clergy members who desire to utilize this approach to their congregations.

He received a diploma as a Fellow of Pastoral Leadership from Princeton Theological Seminary and is working towards a DMin (Doctor of Ministry) In Congregational Development; with a focus on new church starts, analysis and intervention for health. He lives with his wife Anne Labat-Gepert in Kalamazoo, MI.
